River-

coast the air
has another smell.
Japanese gardens
flowered

building of rails
smell
of soy
sauce & oranges,
sweaty
denim and
a salad of
foreign tongues.
Lights
still flood
the city through
thick
fog & heartbreak.
Here
rebirth means
never to forget.
